The offense was running in full throttle for the Santa Barbara Foresters on Sunday.
Seven different players recorded an RBI, the team pounded out six extra-base hits in a 13-hit attack and stole seven bases in an 11-3 win over the Orange County Riptide in a California Collegiate League baseball game at Eddie Mathews Field.
After falling behind 3-2 in the fifth, the Foresters erupted for six runs in the bottom of the sixth to take command of the game. Cole Chamberlain ignited the rally with a towering solo home run. Carter Rutenbar hit a two-run single and Donovan Lasalle, Easton Moomau and Josephy Sandusky each drove in run for an 8-3 lead.
Lasalle, from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, was making his debut for the Foresters.
The other extra-base hits were a triple by Brady Janusek and doubles by Joshua Woodworth, Moomau, Sandusky and Wylan Nelson
Max McGrady, the fourth of pitchers used by the Foresters, picked up the win. The pitchers combined to allow five hits. Orange County’s three runs came off starter Tanner Grove, who threw 4.1 innings.
